During this mad time we have kept teaming up with our lovely sister company Velvet Entertainment to provide some magnificent, daylight, forest magic to a One Marylebone wedding. Dance floor lighting to keep them going all night, as well as a softly lit Soane Hall left the groom saying we had ‘knocked him sideways’. The summer sun is still shy, but we are already skipping for joy!

Reverie Magazine is a gorgeous on-line wedding magazine, but do not expect to find tacky pink, frills and bows. The girls in the Velvet office all agreed that this magazine is far more in touch with what modern brides want to be: classy, sophisticated, individual with a little bit of that fairytale magic that makes weddings so special. No condescending tone to be found anywhere either! We were invited to supply furniture for the launch and, with the help of florists, mixologists, cake makers, etc. transformed the Brown’s Wedding Boutique into a beautiful event space. The attendees even got a sneaky peek at our new console tables! The launch was a great success – and Velvet got to meet some lovely people, including the gorgeous model on the front cover! Happy people all around.

She chose a wonderful venue: Sunbeam Studios. All her close friends and family were invited, sometimes flying all the way across the globe to join. Over the course of three months we discussed the layout possibilities for the birthday girl’s big night and came to the perfect solution for her. We teamed up with our sister company too, providing some of the best entertainment around (you can take a look for yourselves www.velvetentertainment.net) in the form of a DJ, saxophonist and VJ.

Our client was indeed 50, but by no means an old lady, and we achieved exactly that: a classy, fun and cool event that will remain in the guests’ memories for years to come.

Yes, the whole of the events community and many excited brides are talking about it: the Luxury Wedding Show 2011 is upon us. And Velvet Living will be there, ready to help brides prepare their happy day. The beautiful Saatchi Gallery is once again hosting the event, and we cannot wait to meet all of you. We are also very excited about the catwalk (or should I say the girls are!!).

As well as events at Aqua and High Road House, we were involved with Nickelodeon. A lot of work went into this, both in the UK and the US, but it was well worth it, and we were so happy to be part of this.

Grosvenor House, in the heart of Mayfair, is the prestigious venue they picked to host their fantastic event. The Great Room at Grosvenor House is one of London’s biggest venues when trying to avoid stark conference centres, and indeed it worked beautifully for the Nickelodeon crowd.

A great team effort from everyone involved. It took many men, a lot of lifting, floor planning, logistics galore and a few smiles to get it just right. Oh and some songs as well, as the cast of teenage sensation ‘Victoria’ were working hard too as we were setting up. One thing we can say is that those kids can sing!

For you culture vultures out there, Frieze will be running from the 13th to the 16th October and guess what? Yes, Velvet Living will also be involved! We will be seating the fabulous art crowd at the coolest party during the Art Fair, at the ICA. Proving that style and substance are definitely forces to combine.

Just a very quick word to say how lovely it was to meet all of you at the Square Meal show. Despite the chilly weather under the tent, we had a great time finding out more about the new faces that came to Velvet, but also chatting with the people we know. After sometimes months of phone calls and e-mails, finally we got to put some faces to the names.

It was an exhausting couple of days, but we hope that we were able to answer your questions and make ourselves as available as possible. You were able to discover many of our new products, as well! Whether it was on our stand – where you could see our Tic Tac collection, super popular linear light bar and sleek Bordello ghost chairs – or on the rest of the terrace, Velvet Living was hugely present on Square Meal’s outside area. We know you were queuing up at the Great British Sausage stand, and that you all welcomed a well earned rest on our fabulous seating!
